The weather was very nice for our barbecue.
The weekend after the 4th we spent in Springfield.
Check out the groovy rocks under the shallow warm water!
I was able to catch 6 hummingbirds in this photo! Look out for the girl with the squirt gun.
On the 15th, the ladies all went to a baby shower and the men went to see the Spruce Goose museum in McMinnville.
Dozens of planes, and most of them fit nicely under the wooden Howard Hughes monstrosity.
This first photo was outside the museum. The fighter jet flown by Mooch and Supafly!
This next one on the left is an Titan II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.
Remember the moon buggy back in the '70s?
I think this guy on the right shot down 24 enemy planes.
The plane on the right is slightly more cramped than my flight last month. : )
The Spruce Goose itself is way too big to photograph, but here's a little model of its construction.
The little turret on the far right is on the bottom of a fighter jet. I think it was donated by Luke Skywalker's family.
Mom took some good photos of us. The flower is from Rhonda's garden.
On the way down south, we hit the Wildlife Safari in Winston. I couldn't get Jenny to ride the elephant with us.
These geese were very terrirorial. they didn't like us there at all.
This zebra is just a head now, hanging on the wall.
The squirrel seemed to be right at home there with the other animals.
Look at the size of this bull's horns, in the upper left! The bear was feasting. And when the other bear walked around the pen, it really got to foaming at the mouth and making mean noises.
The elk were up against our car, and they left some mud on the back window that we still need to wash off .
The emu chicks were cool. And we did have an emu stick its head inside the car and peck the steering wheel
We took the tour of Jacksonville while down in Southern O. the house in the photo was where Bozo the clown grew up (also the voice of Goofy). And that moonshine still is setting in the back yard.
These deer were right out in the school parking lot in town.
Luckily, the Jackson County Fair was going on while we were there, because we missed the Washington County fair the following weekend.
I wore my Simpsons t-shirt when we drove through Springfield on opening day of the Simpsons Movie, but nobody noticed.
They were having a Blackberry Festival in the town of Lowell. We didn't eat any blackberries, but Sarah enjoyed their rides including the ponies.
