These top zoo photos are actually from late March. It hailed and rained some, but then was sunny. typical spring day.

The polar bear's toy is filled with small fish. The peacocks wander all over the zoo.

April 12th was Packy's birthday party. Packy was the first zoo elephant born in the United States, and is the largest Asian elephant in the country. The weather was like summer, and I've never seen the lines so long. Of course with a membership, we didn't stand in line at all.
I think Packy is the one just below the picture of the cake. They were going to feed him some cake made of carrots and lettuce a couple hours later, but we didn't stay that long. We did get cake ourselves though.

There were a bunch of paintings by Rama the elephant for sale. I wasn't interested in buying any. And I couldn't get Sarah to pose with the "Elephant Man".

The little Babarusa pigs are noticeably bigger, and their tusks are growing a lot. The upper tusks eventually should be a foot long.

I brought Sarah to this Spring's comic book show in Portland. Didn't buy much this time, but I did get some photos of the local Star Wars Fanatics club. Turns out that April was officially declared Comics Month by the Portland Mayor. We went to another comic convention the following weekend, but no photos.

Another day at the zoo, 2 weeks later. They were feeding the Bald Eagles. That was pretty cool. The Rhino was up close and rolling around, but I had camera trouble until it walked away.

That last photo was doctored. Hippos are the most dangerous animals at the zoo, they say.
